 It is a perennial plant, endemic in South America, can have huge leaves, up to 2.5 meters in diameter! It needs slightly acidic soil, ample water supply according to demand. Thick cover of hay and leaves for the winter is needed. Its huge leaves can also be used as cover on the root after cutting them off. It feels the best near water, in the scattered shade of large trees or in wet, windless places.
