It is native in the east part of North America, from Georgia through the Great Lakes region all the way to Quebec, a hardened, fast-growing, fine-looking pine. It can grow up to 50 metres in height and can live to be 500 years old! In our country (Hungary), on the basis of a habitat, prefers the cooler, northern locations and more humid, colder valleys! Under the right conditions, it is a fast-growing, healthy evergreen tree which is similar to the cedars in sight and habitus! Highly shear-tolerant, so that it is excellent as a shape tree or trimmed hedge too! Winter-hardiness zone: 4a.
