WALNUT `UKRÁN ÓRIÁS` (Ukrainian giant): a variety remarkable because of its giant-size nuts, being about twice as big as the widely known Hungarian varieties. The kernel fills up the shell well, and it does not `rattle` in the shell as most of the giant walnut varieties do. Due to its high oil-content, it can be preserved and enjoyed for a long time. This variety was selected in a climate more rigorous than in Hungary, therefore it adapts well to our climatic conditions. Its shell can be broken up easily, the kernel is very tasty, and also very marketable, sells good due to its dimensions and quality. In the photo, the upper one is the `Ukrán óriásdió`, while the lower one is a Hungarian walnut-variety `Milotai 10`, which is also a beautiful one. The tree: the usual walnut-tree size, with a dynamic growth when young, slowing down later.
